A good many, many years ago (Maybe four decades ago.) I used to practice my fly fishing casting on the Warwickshire Avon for course fish. Using tiny, Size 20 hook dry flies and floating line for those super fast Dace was amazing. If you saw the bite, you'd miss it. So you almost had to imagine the bite was going to happen and strike to catch one. _May seem implausible, but it worked!_ Once your eye was in, you'd see the Dace come up just below the fly and that was the time to strike. But I also used a sinking line with small lures on for Chub, Roach and Bream too. *_The dull, bland, imitation freshwater shrimp (Gammarus pulex) patterns were really good._* Another good lure was the Montana. And if Crane Flies were about, then an imitation Crane Fly on floating line was excellent. Especially for Chub. You literally couldn't miss their takes. 😅🤣😂👍

What brand and model is your magic fish finding wand of? Is that a Daiwa Prorex 200 reel? Never seen one of them being used, actually.. I use a sibling of it, the Coastal TW 200, which is a Tatula Type HD LTD with a nuc nicer reel handle, a Tatulion with other colors really. Have had 18 Tatula 200, and the Tatula 300. The 300 is really really nice but a bit overkill for my land based pike fishing. Dont have a need for throwing heavier than 120g as i am unable to do pelagic fishing, and there are plenty big rubbers weighing under 120g. Got my Coastal on a Prorex X Lazy Pike 8'0" 30-120g V2, new model for this year and wow, prorex rods are really really in the forefront when it comes to tech used in the rods and what you get for the money. Pure Fishind brands dont have anything near them except for Beast Pro rods, that cost 3.5 X what my Prorex rod cost. You should really try them out. For me a game changer when it comes to lightness and sensitivity. 12 out of 10 really.

Proper feisty Pike, nice fish. After I had a large Pike and a large Zander choke a Crank with trebles on the Oxford canal I decided to remove all the trebles off all my Cranks and swapped them for singles, it hasn't at all affected my hook up rate. I just find it less stressful for me and the fish with singles instead of trebles although you removed the trebles from that Pike expertly.

It's a genetic thing. Some pike are born like that, their mucus is blue for some reason. Probably same thing, it could also be something they ate. “We ate Bluegill and we ate blue chips, oh I felt real blue eating that blue fish, cuz there ain't much that I won't do, if it keeps me from being true blue.”
